Tournaments & Competitions

WSU hosts and assists a number debating tournaments and speech competitions throughout the year. These serve as an opportunity for students to partake in multiple debates throughout a day or a weekend, or prepare a formal-style speech in order to improve their skills and meet like-minded people.

NZSDC
Regionals & Nationals

The New Zealand School's Debating Council runs regional competitions annually to select regional teams who go on to compete at Nationals, who have the opportunity to be selected for the national team to compete internationally.

WSU
Impromptu Cup

WSU runs an Impromptu tournament for senior and junior students, where teams of two compete with only 5-10 minutes preparation.

NZSDC
Schools' British Parliamentary

The New Zealand School's Debating Council may elect to run a British Parliamentary style tournament for senior students, where four teams of two compete with 15-30 minutes preparation.

WSU
"The Moot Must Fall" Student Tournament

Senior students in collaboration with WSU judges and secondary school teachers run and judge a tournament for students in years 9-11.

Dunsheath Shield

WSU organises and hosts this speech competition for junior-school students.

Stockley Cup

WSU organises and hosts this speech competition for senior-school students.
